HRL Publisher Barbara Godwin on a once-in-a-lifetime ride in Versailles, France

We at horseandriderliving.com wish all of you the best possible New Year and hope that current events are not affecting you.

Wildfires in Colorado have taken on a personal note as partner and Creative Director Cristina Miller has family and ties to that particular region. While her immediate connections were all confirmed to be safe (after a flurry of far-too-early calls and texts, given the time difference -CM), it was an uncomfortably close call and a sobering start to a new year. To support impacted residents in the area, donations can be made to the Boulder County Wildlife Fund.

While HRL’s focus is on horses and equine enthusiasts, our hearts are with anyone who is experiencing such a catastrophe. What one suffers affects another, and while it certainly is not the way we would like to start the New Year, we are filled with gratitude for those who are volunteering and struggling to save who and what they can – whether it’s horses, pets, or people, we see you and thank you.

Whether it is following the journey of Nikita Gretsi in Siberia, or those who are furiously working to save the wild horses of America, saving horses from an inhumane death at our borders, evacuating horses and pets in Colorado…the goal for HRL in the coming year is to recognize horses and people all over the globe and what they contribute as equine enthusiasts.

We continue to grow only with your support as a reader, and we thank you.

We also want to thank those who contribute to HRL in so many ways.  Artists: Nicki Forde, Mary Jo Hinson, Lisa Stockwell, and Kit Gray.  Alise Nolan and The Ranch Kitchen, Joshua Phelps, FSD Hot Rod Ranch, CuChullaine O’Reilly, The Long Riders Guild, and also connected to the LRG Nikita Gretsi and Gintaras Kaltenis.  Also to the American Wild Horse Campaign (AWHC) and the National Horse Coalition (NHC) for your contributions;  thanks for all you do.

And of course to each and every other person who has shared a part of their lives, and given of their time to HRL, a heartfelt thank you and Happy New Year!
