HRL Publisher Barbara Godwin on a once-in-a-lifetime ride in Versailles, France
Welcome to 2020 and brand-new content for HRL! I would like to wish our readers a happy, prosperous and healthy new year.
Horse and Rider Living was a new beginning for me and it still is. This past year has been tumultuous, tragic and at the same time adventurous and exciting. For every negative the past year has offered, a positive has literally risen out of the ashes. Whether lessons learned or opportunities presented, 2019 for me was a very active and life-changing year.
We are entering a new decade and while no one knows what the future holds, I do know that we at HRL plan to make it the best we possibly can. Creating new segments and articles of interest, whether people, places or just having fun! Informative yet creative and visually appealing.
And isn’t that what it is about anyway, to just be the best you can possibly be? Each and every one of us is given a different set of tools to work with. While it is important to realize that all peoples must be offered equal opportunity to succeed regardless of gender, race or religion, no two people are alike. You work with what you were presented with at the time of your creation.
With that said, we can create, recreate and evolve using the tools and circumstances we were given to become someone who is worthy of looking back at ourselves in the mirror!
Perhaps the focus of education should be on becoming the ultimate human being. To give 110% to everything we could possibly evolve to become. Rather than asking what a young person wants to be or do when they “grow up”, perhaps we should stress that true success in life is to be successful as a human being first. To be healthy intelligent and creative people who live for each and every day, not just that pension or bank account when they retire from the workforce. That growing up is a process and not an age.
So I propose a toast, to 2020, HRL and new beginnings… thank you.
