The world is a big big place, and what better way to see it than from horseback? If you and your horse are in travel mode and looking for a scenic getaway, South Dakota – and this one-of-a-kind property – awaits you!
Dakota Dream Bed & Breakfast is located in a setting offering a wide range of activities, whether hiking or visiting (literally!) monumental sites, such as Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. But it also offers bountiful and scenic trails for you and your horse, off the beaten tourist path. This B&B has great reviews and was awarded five stars by TripAdvisor in 2019. It is listed as one of 33 specialty lodging available in Custer.
The Dakota Dream B&B is an opportunity for those traveling with their horses to see a part of America steeped in history. The Black Hills forest, known as the Paha Sapa (black mountains) by the Lakota Sioux, encompasses over 1.25 million acres. Drive the Needles Highway, a 14-mile stretch of highway providing a visual experience unlike any other.
The Dakota Dream is a perfect home base, adding comfort to logistics. It is owned by Mackenzie Wright, who – along with her daughter Madeline – calls Dakota Dream B&B home, and caters to equine enthusiasts who can’t leave home without their rides!
Wright grew up in Oregon and had an extensive background in the horse world. Her grandfather made buckles, spurs, and saddles and was president of the Idaho Rodeo Association; her dad was a bull rider.
Mackenzie worked as an adult with Special Olympics Equestrian in Florida, an experience she “will always cherish.” She was also a police officer in Killdeer, ND. She owns her horse named Red.
You can find The Dakota Dream at DakotaDreamBandB.com, as well as AirBnB and VRBO.
Take a ride and visit Mackenzie and Madeline in the heart of adventure…and tell them HRL sent you!
